HIL GC secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over SG Pipers in the Men’s Hockey India League 2025-26 opener. Kane Russell’s late penalty corner goal sealed the win for HIL GC in the dying moments of the match.

SG Pipers started strong with quick passing and early attacks, earning a penalty corner but failing to score. HIL GC responded with their own attacks, eventually leveling the game.

In a back-and-forth second quarter, both teams had scoring chances but couldn’t break the deadlock. The third quarter saw Ky Willott scoring for SG Pipers, swiftly answered by two goals from Kane Russell for HIL GC.

The final quarter saw Dilraj Singh equalizing for SG Pipers, but Kane Russell’s hat-trick goal from a late penalty corner secured the victory for HIL GC.
