Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, in a meeting with Administrative Secretaries, emphasized the necessity of conducting dope tests for government job applicants. He instructed departments to expedite the payment of pending gratuity and leave encashment dues for Class IV pensioners as per the Budget announcement.
Sukhu also called for detailed information on applicants seeking employment on compassionate grounds to enable the government to make informed decisions. Additionally, he inquired about the actions taken against government employees involved in heroin trafficking, highlighting the government’s strong stance against drug-related crimes.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to combatting drug abuse among youth, stressing the importance of mandatory dope testing for individuals before joining government service. He also requested updates on vacant positions to facilitate the prompt filling of 500 Junior Office Assistant (IT) roles.
Furthermore, Sukhu tasked officials with compiling data on trees uprooted or felled in forest areas due to storms for timely removal. A special campaign starting on June 1 aims to address this issue efficiently to prevent resource loss. Forest Department officers were directed to ensure the swift removal and proper disposal of fallen trees on a priority basis.
