Hindu diaspora groups have reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate action regarding the rising violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. The Global Hindu Diaspora expressed deep concern over incidents such as killings, mob assaults, and alleged state inaction. The appeal to PM Modi highlighted recent tragic events, including the lynching and burning of Dipu Chandra Das, a young Bangladeshi Hindu.

The letter to PM Modi emphasized a significant escalation in violence against Hindus starting from August 2025. The group pointed out a disturbing trend of terror that has persisted since mid-December 2025. Referring to past incidents, the group mentioned the killing of Utsav Mondal and highlighted the use of fabricated blasphemy accusations in such attacks.

Describing a history of neglect, the letter cited instances where Hindus in Bangladesh felt abandoned, such as the failure of the Liaquat-Nehru Pact of 1950 to provide promised minority protections. It also referenced the post-1971 Liberation War period, noting the repatriation of Hindu refugees back to Bangladesh. The Global Hindu Diaspora characterized the current situation as a “massacre of Hindus” and raised concerns about the lack of media coverage on human rights abuses targeting minorities.

The group reported over 2,442 attacks on minorities, predominantly Hindus, between August 2024 and June 2025, resulting in numerous casualties. It highlighted the killing of 82 individuals between August and November 2024, along with incidents of rape, temple desecrations, and mob violence. Recent weeks have seen a surge in violence, with 11 Hindus killed in the past 35 days in a series of brutal attacks.

Advocating for international intervention, the Global Hindu Diaspora called on India to condemn the attacks publicly. They proposed the establishment of humanitarian corridors, refugee camps, and UN-monitored safe zones. Additionally, they urged New Delhi to address the issue at the United Nations and exert diplomatic and economic pressure on extremist factions. The group also emphasized the need for protected corridors to ensure the safe passage of Bangladeshi Hindus to India.

Organizing a silent protest in the United States on January 31, the Global Hindu Diaspora aims to raise awareness about the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. The protest seeks to send a strong message that the atrocities cannot be overlooked.
