HinduACTion is set to conduct a congressional briefing on January 16 at Capitol Hill, focusing on the persecution, forced conversions, and trafficking of Hindu, Christian, and other religious minorities in Pakistan. The event, titled “Our Lost Daughters of Sindh,” aims to raise awareness among members of Congress, US State Department officials, and human rights advocates about the ongoing human rights crisis in South Asia.
The briefing will showcase historical materials, art, testimonies, and documentary evidence to shed light on the underreported plight of religious minorities in the region. It will include a visual presentation highlighting the extensive history of Hindus in Pakistan and an art exhibit by Kiran Chukkapalli portraying the struggles of Hindu refugees escaping persecution.
Additionally, the program will feature testimonials from civil rights activists in Pakistan and a documentary by Indus Valley Minorities focusing on forced conversions and trafficking of Hindu, Christian, and other religious minorities in Pakistan. Utsav Chakrabarti, the executive director of HinduACTion, emphasized the briefing’s goal of moving policymakers beyond mere statistics and headlines to address the ongoing religious persecution.
HinduACTion has encouraged participants to invite local elected officials to attend and speak at the briefing. Furthermore, organizers announced a nationwide peaceful rally scheduled for January 31 in various US cities to raise awareness about violence against Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh. The rally is described as a non-political, humanitarian initiative open to individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.
