Mumbai, Aug 10 (IANS) State-owned Hindustan Copper Limited on Monday reported a decline in earnings for the first quarter of FY27, with consolidated net profit falling nearly 21 per cent sequentially on the back of lower revenue.

The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 352 crore for the quarter ended June 2026, down 20.7 per cent from Rs 444 crore in the preceding quarter (Q4 FY26), according to its stock exchange filing.

However, on year-on-year basis, it reported a 162 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 352 crore, in comparison to Rs 134 crore in the same period a year earlier (Q1 FY26).

The company’s revenue from operations declined 19 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 937 crore from Rs 1,156 crore in the March quarter.

Operating performance also weakened in line with the decline in revenue. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell 19 per cent to Rs 508 crore from Rs 627 crore in the previous quarter, as per its regulatory filing.

Despite the decline in earnings and revenue, Hindustan Copper maintained its profitability levels at the operating level.

The EBITDA margin remained unchanged at 54.2 per cent, compared with 54.2 per cent in the preceding quarter.

The quarterly results were accompanied by a muted market reaction. Following the announcement, shares of Hindustan Copper were trading 0.33 per cent lower at Rs 534.35 on the National Stock Exchange.

The stock had fallen as much as 0.67 per cent to Rs 532.50 after the detailed earnings statement was released.

Hindustan Copper’s shares have, however, delivered strong gains over a longer time frame. The stock has more than doubled in value over the past 12 months and has advanced 3.17 per cent so far in 2026.

Shares of the company surged to their 52-week high of Rs 760.05 apiece on January 29, 2026, while the 52-week low was at Rs 226.70 apiece on August 28, 2025.
