The Franco-Indian cultural collaboration reached a significant moment with the arrival of stones from India in Paris for the new Hindu Mandir in Bussy-Saint-Georges. These stones, crafted using traditional techniques, hold centuries of architectural heritage and were hand-carved by skilled Indian artisans before being sent to France. Indian artisans will now collaborate with French stone masons, including those from the Notre-Dame Cathedral restoration team, blending Indian carving traditions with French stonemasonry expertise.

The Hindu Mandir project in France aims to not only serve as a place of worship but also as a hub for culture, education, and community engagement. The ceremony welcoming the stones symbolized the convergence of cultures, values, and knowledge, signifying a strong bond between India and France. Local and national representatives, alongside community leaders, acknowledged the project’s importance in fostering intercultural understanding and friendship between the two nations.

Sanjay Kara, CEO of the Paris Mandir construction project, emphasized the historic significance of the stones’ arrival from India, highlighting the blend of Indian tradition and French engineering in the project. The Mandir, guided by the teachings of Mahant Swami Maharaj, is envisioned as a space promoting service, humility, and harmony, uniting Indian and French expertise to create a place of worship and community enrichment. Ambassador of India to France, Sanjeev Kumar Singla, praised the collaboration between Indian and French artisans, noting the shared pride in craftsmanship and the celebration of culture and heritage.

Ambassador Jean-Christophe Peaucelle, Advisor for Religious Affairs at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lauded the innovative nature of the Mandir project, emphasizing its spiritual and human significance in the bilateral relationship. Alain Ngouoto, Sous-Préfet de Torcy, described the project as a symbol of French-Indian friendship, highlighting the fusion of ancestral Indian stones with French expertise as a testament to the strength of collaboration and friendship between the two nations.
