The Ridge in Shimla witnessed a grand celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day with over 5,000 participants from various sectors of society. The event, organized by the Himachal Police in partnership with the state Department of AYUSH, aimed to promote health, harmony, and holistic living. Governor Kavinder Gupta, joined by Lady Governor, led the mass yoga session, advocating for yoga’s role in physical fitness, mental peace, and spiritual well-being.
The theme of the celebration was “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” emphasizing yoga’s significance in fostering a healthy and balanced lifestyle across all age groups. Governor Gupta highlighted yoga as India’s precious contribution to humanity, promoting harmony between body, mind, and soul. He urged citizens, especially the youth, to embrace yoga as a daily routine for a healthier and more positive society.
Director General of Police Ashok Tewari, along with senior police officials, actively participated in the yoga session, emphasizing that yoga is not just physical exercise but a way of life. The Himachal Pradesh Police reiterated their commitment to public safety and health promotion, encouraging individuals to integrate yoga into their lives for a better future.
Personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, government officials, senior citizens, women, students, and tourists enthusiastically engaged in the yoga program. The Department of Yoga at Himachal Pradesh University conducted a yoga demonstration, guiding participants through various asanas, pranayama, and meditation practices. An International Yoga Day Pledge was also administered to all attendees.
