Hockey India responded to P.R. Sreejesh’s claims regarding his removal from the Indian junior men’s hockey coaching setup. The federation clarified that Sreejesh’s coaching contract had ended as per agreement and denied allegations of making space for a foreign coach. Sreejesh expressed disappointment over the situation, questioning the preference for overseas coaches despite qualified Indian candidates being available.
The official statement from Hockey India emphasized that Sreejesh’s coaching term had concluded in December 2025 as per protocol. The position was filled through a selection process based on merit, resulting in the selection of a coach with distinguished qualifications. The federation refuted claims of firing Sreejesh and mentioned offering him an alternative role within the national development structure.
Hockey India stated that Sreejesh was not dismissed but was offered a coaching position for the Development team, crucial for LA 28 and the upcoming Olympic cycle. Despite the offer, Sreejesh declined the position.
