Hockey India has unveiled the 20-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan, set to take place from September 19 to October 4. Salima Tete continues as the team captain, following their victory at the FIH Nations Cup in New Zealand. Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam are the designated goalkeepers for the squad.
The team’s head coach, Sjoerd Marijne, expressed satisfaction with the squad composition, highlighting a mix of junior, experienced, and senior players who are pushing each other to excel. The defensive lineup includes Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Ishika Chaudhary, Jyoti, Lalthantluangi, and Shilpi Dabas, with the latter two making their senior debut during the FIH Nations Cup.
In the midfield, Salima will be supported by Nikki Pradhan, Sakshi Rana, Sunelita Toppo, Neha, and Deepika Soreng. The forward line features Lalremsiami, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, Navneet Kaur, Deepika, Ishika, Baljeet Kaur, and Beauty Dungdung. Chief Coach Marijne expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the Asian Games challenge.
