Hockey Jharkhand secured their third straight victory at the 16th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2026, solidifying their status as a top junior team in India. This win adds to their previous titles in 2024 and 2025, showcasing their dominance in the competition.
Jharkhand has shown significant progress in hockey infrastructure development, notably with the construction of astroturfs from 2014 to 2026. Various cities in the state, including Simdega, Khunti, Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Jamshedpur, now boast multiple astroturf facilities. This infrastructure expansion has played a crucial role in nurturing hockey talent across Jharkhand.
The state’s organized youth development initiatives have yielded remarkable results at the Hockey India National Championships over the past 16 years, particularly in women’s divisions. Jharkhand has amassed a total of 34 medals in women’s events, comprising 10 Gold, 11 Silver, and 13 Bronze medals, underscoring the effectiveness of its grassroots programs.
Jharkhand’s success extends to both junior and senior levels, with the Junior Women’s team clinching 14 medals and the Sub Junior Women’s team securing 12 medals, including recent victories. At the senior level, Jharkhand has claimed 8 medals at the Senior Women’s National Championships, showcasing a seamless transition of talent from grassroots to higher competition levels.
