A home tutor in Kolkata was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12th-grade student after calling her to his home. The incident, reported by the Lake Town police station, involved the tutor inviting the student for tutoring and then allegedly drugging and assaulting her.
The student fell unconscious after consuming a drink given by the tutor and later reported feeling unwell upon regaining consciousness. Subsequently, she confided in her parents about the incident, leading to a formal complaint being filed with the police. The accused tutor was apprehended following the complaint.
The arrested tutor was presented before the Bidhannagar court for further proceedings. Despite claiming innocence and alleging framing, he was remanded to police custody after the court hearing. This incident follows a recent case of a minor’s rape and murder in Baruipur, where several individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime.
West Bengal Police has reassigned the investigating officer for the minor’s case to a more experienced deputy superintendent of police (DSP)-rank officer, Santanu Mukhopadhyay, in light of recent developments.
