Meteorologists have linked the recent surge in temperatures across various parts of India to hot winds, with Banda in Uttar Pradesh recording the highest temperature at 48.2 degrees. Meteorologist Mohammad Danish explained that strong hot westerly winds from desert areas have been driving the temperature up consistently over the past few days.
Banda has maintained its status as the hottest place in the country for the last four days, with temperatures hitting 48 degrees recently. Alerts have been issued for the Prayagraj and Agra divisions, with an Orange alert in effect for other regions, and a yellow alert for Lucknow.
In Uttar Pradesh, most areas are experiencing temperatures above 40-45 degrees, leading to widespread sweltering heat. Meteorologists caution that dehydration risks are particularly high between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to the intense heat and hot winds, advising people to stay indoors during these hours unless absolutely necessary.
Praveen Kumar, another meteorologist, reported that Wardha in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region recorded the second-highest temperature in the country at 47.1 degrees. Several areas in Vidarbha saw temperatures ranging from 46 to 47 degrees, nearing heatwave conditions. Places like Amaravati, Nagpur, and Chandrapur in Maharashtra have also experienced above-normal minimum temperatures this year.
