Police in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, have filed an FIR against a hotel in Pahalgam for not reporting the stay of 23 foreigners, including 19 British citizens. The hotel allegedly violated the Immigration and Foreigners Act by failing to submit the mandatory Form C, which registers foreign nationals.
Authorities discovered the foreign guests, including the British nationals, at Hotel Misty Mountains Laddi during routine checks in Pahalgam. The hotel management allegedly concealed their stay from the police and did not fulfill the required reporting procedures, breaching security protocols.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered against the hotel under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Pahalgam, and an investigation has been initiated. Police officials in Anantnag are reminding all hotel operators to strictly adhere to legal requirements concerning the reporting of foreign guests.
In a separate incident, a Chinese national named Hu Congtai was detained in late 2025 for illegally visiting Ladakh and Kashmir without the necessary permits and violating visa conditions. Hu, who arrived in New Delhi on a tourist visa restricted to specific destinations, ventured into Ladakh without following registration protocols, leading to his deportation and blacklisting.
