A policeman was killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, leading to the demolition of houses belonging to two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists. The demolished houses belonged to Aadil Hussain Thokar of Guree, Bijbehara, and Haroon Ganai of Hassanpora in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. This action was taken in response to the killing of the head constable in a terror attack at Lal Chowk, Anantnag.

Authorities demolished Aadil Thokar’s house, previously razed after a terror attack, and a newly constructed house at the same location. Similarly, Haroon Ganai’s house in Hassanpora was also demolished. This operation is part of the ongoing crackdown on terrorists and their support infrastructure. Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the terror attack, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held to honor the martyred policeman, Head constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, who was on patrolling duty when the attack occurred. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. TRF, formed post the 2019 abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, has a significant social media presence and has been involved in targeted killings. Police have detained over 3,000 overground workers (OGWs) of terrorist outfits in various districts following the incident.

A red alert has been issued, and a massive manhunt is underway to apprehend the assailants responsible for the terror attack.
