A housewife named Bharati Hazra was brutally murdered in Howrah district’s Shibpur area allegedly due to her inability to repay a loan in full at once. The incident occurred on a Sunday evening, with the victim’s husband claiming that the attack was a result of her failure to make a lump sum payment.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage in an attempt to identify the perpetrators behind the gruesome killing. Eyewitnesses reported seeing four individuals on two motorcycles acting suspiciously in the vicinity on the evening of the murder.
The assailants lured the victim outside her home under false pretenses before launching a fatal attack on her with a sharp weapon. Following the assault, the attackers swiftly fled the scene, leaving the woman fatally wounded on her doorstep.
The 40-year-old victim had borrowed Rs 50,000 from a local resident and had been making regular monthly repayments. However, her husband disclosed that they were suddenly pressured to repay the entire sum at once, leading to threats on their lives.
