Hollywood star Hugh Jackman showcased his musical talents at media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s 95th birthday bash in New York. Jackman treated guests to songs from ‘The Greatest Showman’ and classics like ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ and ‘New York, New York’. He concluded his performance with a rendition of ‘I Still Call Australia Home’. Despite being absent, former President Donald Trump sent a video message praising Murdoch as a media legend with unparalleled courage and vision.
At the event, Trump hailed Murdoch’s significant contributions to the media industry, emphasizing his impact on the world. In a previous incident, Trump had filed a $20 billion lawsuit against Dow Jones, News Corp, Murdoch, and two Wall Street Journal reporters in July 2025. This legal action stemmed from the publication of a controversial birthday card allegedly sent by Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, which he deemed as “fake news”. Ivanka Trump was present at Murdoch’s celebration, reportedly showing support for Jackman during his performance.
During the promotion of his 2018 movie ‘The Front Runner’, Jackman clarified that his friendship with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner did not reflect his political stance. He highlighted a 15-year acquaintance with the couple, emphasizing that political discussions were not part of their interactions.
