A human rights organization strongly criticized the Pakistan Army for destroying civilian homes in Balochistan’s Awaran district. The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department highlighted the demolition of houses belonging to Niaz Baloch and Huzoor Bakhsh Baloch during a military operation on May 13 in Awaran. This action was described as part of a broader policy of collective punishment involving enforced disappearances and property destruction in Balochistan.
Paank urged international human rights bodies and the United Nations to address the severe abuses in Balochistan. The organization reported the forced disappearances of two individuals by Pakistani forces in the region. Student Haleem Baloch was taken during a raid by Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department, Rangers, and Military Intelligence, while driver Kiyya Baloch was reportedly abducted by Pakistan’s Frontier Corps personnel. Paank expressed alarm over the ongoing enforced disappearances that leave families in distress and uncertainty.
In another tragic incident, an elderly man named Sher Dil was allegedly shot dead by Pakistani military forces in the Drachkoh area of Kech district. The Balochistan Post cited local sources confirming the fatal shooting. Balochistan continues to face severe human rights violations, including enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings by Pakistani forces.
