Violence against civilians in Balochistan persists, with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) highlighting the extrajudicial killing of two civilians by Pakistani forces. The BYC strongly condemned the death of an elderly farmer, Sheerdil, in Turbat on May 21, attributing it to the Pakistan Frontier Corps’ actions. Sheerdil was fatally shot on his land, as per local sources.
In a separate incident, the body of a 21-year-old driver, Muhsin, was found in Panjgur district after he had been missing for 66 days. The BYC alleges that Muhsin was forcibly disappeared by Frontier Corps personnel and later killed during detention. The BYC has called for international human rights bodies to address the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan urgently.
Furthermore, reports indicate that seven civilians, including a minor boy, a singer, laborers, a fisherman, and a driver, were forcibly disappeared in various districts of Balochistan. Instances of enforced disappearances by Pakistani security forces and intelligence personnel have been reported. The victims include individuals like driver Javed Baloch, singer Khalil Karim, and laborer Abdul Haq Shehzad, among others.
Balochistan continues to face severe human rights violations, with enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch civilians on the rise, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and protection of civilians.
