Over 300 structures have been destroyed in the bushfire crisis in Victoria, Australia. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Premier Jacinta Allan announced a $13 million emergency funding package to aid affected communities. The funding includes support for farmers, emergency accommodation, and mental health services.
Albanese assured support for Victorians during the crisis and recovery. With 32 bushfires burning in Victoria, evacuation orders are in place for 15 areas. Authorities confirmed the destruction of over 300 structures, with one fire near Longwood burning through 144,000 hectares of land.
Emergency-level bushfires persist in western Victoria and the state’s far northeast. Although temperatures are expected to drop, strong winds continue to pose a threat. Firefighting conditions remain challenging despite the forecasted decrease in temperatures.
