Hyderabad Police have apprehended the individual responsible for damaging a flexi banner and an idol at Puranapul’s Darwaza Mysamma Temple, leading to tension in the vicinity. The arrest was made within 24 hours of the incident, as confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendra Nagar. Authorities are actively investigating the case and are currently interrogating the suspect for additional evidence under the direct supervision of the Hyderabad Police Commissioner.
Police have conducted a flag march in the Purnapul area to reassure the public, with the City Armed Reserve and Rapid Action Force personnel participating in riot gear. Heavy police presence remains in Purnapul and surrounding areas due to their communal sensitivity, although the situation has been reported as peaceful following the recent incidents.
In response to the vandalism at the temple and subsequent clashes, police have intensified patrolling in the area, especially in anticipation of Friday prayers. Cases have been registered regarding the temple vandalism and the attack on a religious structure by a mob. The perpetrators have been identified through CCTV footage and videos, with authorities ensuring strict legal action against them.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police clarified that only the flexi banner and idol in the temple veranda were partially damaged, emphasizing that the main idols in the Sanctum Sanctorum are unharmed. Rumors suggesting otherwise have been debunked by the police.
