Stringent measures are underway in Hyderabad to eliminate drugs from the city, as stated by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar. The Commissioner visited the De-addiction Centre at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad, engaging with individuals who recently tested positive for drugs. He emphasized the importance of family support in aiding these individuals to overcome addiction.
A total of 239 rowdy-sheeters underwent drug tests, with 188 testing positive, prompting surveillance on those posing a threat to law and order. Currently, 35 individuals are undergoing treatment at the De-addiction Centre, while others receive counseling. The Commissioner expressed optimism about the ongoing 15-day counseling and treatment program.
The Commissioner announced the availability of advanced drug detection kits in all police stations and directed officials to conduct tests on suspicious individuals, particularly during night hours. He praised the establishment of 35 de-addiction centers in the state, aiming to provide relief to those battling drug addiction. Additionally, he emphasized a tough stance against drug peddlers, ensuring legal action against them.
