Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) of the city police detained a 27-year-old Ugandan woman, Juliana Victor Nabitaka, and deported her to prevent her from engaging in activities harmful to national security. Nabitaka, a resident of Kampala, had overstayed in India after her visa expired in January 2025. She was found associating with drug peddlers and participating in illegal activities.
While in the Tolichowki Police Station area, Nabitaka was apprehended by H-NEW while accompanying a drug peddler. Despite interrogation, she could not provide valid documents or reasons for her stay in Hyderabad. She confessed to staying in India without a valid visa after her visa expiration. Nabitaka had entered India on a tourist visa, arriving in Mumbai in February 2024.
During her time in India, she traveled to various tourist destinations, residing in Chennai for four months, Mumbai for two months, and Bengaluru for eight months. She befriended foreign drug peddlers during her travels and eventually engaged in drug trafficking in Bengaluru and Hyderabad to make money and live luxuriously, as per Vaibhav Gaikwad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/HNEW.
H-NEW, with the assistance of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Hyderabad, initiated the deportation process. Nabitaka was issued an exit permit by the FRRO and was blacklisted from re-entering India.
In a separate incident, Cyberabad Police dismantled a drug racket in a co-living hostel. Two drug peddlers, Vamshi Dileep and Bala Prakash from Andhra Pradesh, along with three drug consumers from Hyderabad – Manikantha, Rohith, and Tarun – were arrested by the Special Operations Team (SOT) under the Raidurgam police Station. The police seized 12 grams of MDMA, 7 grams of OG kush, and six mobile phones.
