Hyundai Motor Group announced its plan to reveal its artificial intelligence (AI) robotics strategy at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 and introduce the next-generation humanoid robot, Atlas, developed by its US subsidiary Boston Dynamics. The group will present a keynote session on Jan. 5 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, focusing on “Partnering Human Progress: AI Robotics, from the Lab to Life.” The event will showcase advanced AI robotics technologies, human-robot collaboration approaches, and the group’s vision to establish an AI robotics ecosystem. A key highlight will be the introduction of Atlas on stage, demonstrating real-world applications of Hyundai’s AI robotics technologies. Additionally, Hyundai Motor aims to outline its strategy for leveraging robotics technologies through its software-defined factory concept to become a comprehensive AI-based production solutions provider. In another development, Hyundai Motor Group disclosed its plans to establish a significant battery research and development (R&D) center in South Korea to enhance its electric vehicle (EV) competitiveness. The company recently conducted a topping-out ceremony for the Future Mobility Battery Campus in Anseong, marking progress in the construction of the facility. With an investment of 1.2 trillion won ($818.3 million), the new campus, spanning 111,000 square meters, symbolizes the group’s commitment to leading future mobility through cutting-edge battery R&D infrastructure. The completion of the facility is expected by the end of 2026. Hyundai Motor emphasized that the new battery campus will serve as its primary comprehensive battery R&D hub, enabling the internalization of core battery capabilities and the integration of battery technology research functions.
