The Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah, and the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Devajit Saikia, visited Colombo to meet with the leadership of Sri Lanka Cricket. Discussions revolved around governance transition and reforms within the cricket administration in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Cricket updated the ICC Chairman and BCCI Secretary on progress made in strengthening governance structures and advancing the reform process.
The delegation was briefed on the ongoing work related to constitutional and administrative reforms in Sri Lanka Cricket, aiming for long-term stability and good governance. Sri Lanka Cricket shared timelines for completing the reform process and returning to governance through duly elected administration. The ICC delegation acknowledged the milestones achieved and measures taken for a smooth and transparent transition, emphasizing the importance of strong governance and transparency in cricket.
Sri Lanka Cricket expressed gratitude to Mr. Shah and Mr. Saikia for their visit and constructive dialogue on the future of cricket administration. The meeting also touched upon cricket development, bilateral cooperation, and strengthening ties between Sri Lanka Cricket, the ICC, and the BCCI. Earlier, ICC Chairman Jay Shah met with Sri Lanka’s President to discuss cricket’s state in the nation, focusing on opportunities for emerging players, grassroots development, and using cricket for social impact and economic growth.
