ICICI Lombard General Insurance disclosed that an employee mistakenly posted draft financial data for Q3 FY26 on their personal WhatsApp status. The company promptly removed the information after realizing the error within an hour. The figures, labeled as preliminary and subject to change during the ongoing audit, are considered Unpublished Price Sensitive Information (UPSI).
The company emphasized that investors should not rely on these figures due to their draft status. As a precautionary measure, ICICI Lombard General Insurance reported the incident to the Stock Exchanges and initiated an internal investigation in compliance with regulatory standards. The company plans to inform its Audit Committee and board, with the inquiry committee’s findings to be made public post-review.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India enforces strict insider trading regulations, prohibiting the trading or communication of UPSI for unfair market gains. SEBI recently alleged Bank of America of sharing confidential information about a block sale and providing misleading statements during investigations regarding a 2024 sale of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC shares.
