The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain and thunderstorms in parts of southern Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats due to an atmospheric low-pressure system. Officials from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai mentioned that isolated rainfall is likely in select districts. The low-pressure circulation in the southern region is expected to bring light showers, especially along the Western Ghats and in southern Tamil Nadu.
Similar conditions are expected to persist over the next two days, with isolated light rainfall anticipated in Western Ghats districts. While heavy rainfall is not expected, authorities advise residents in vulnerable areas, particularly hilly terrains, to stay alert for thunderstorms and gusty winds. In Chennai, the weather is forecasted to be partly cloudy for the next two days.
The IMD also forecasts the possibility of light mist in the early morning hours in some places in Chennai. However, significant rainfall is not expected in the State capital during this period. Daytime temperatures are expected to be normal with moderate humidity due to cloud cover. The IMD will continue to monitor the weather pattern and provide updates if conditions change, urging residents to stay informed through official bulletins and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms.
