The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for moderate to light thunderstorms with lightning, squall, hail, and strong gusty winds in various areas of Madhya Pradesh on June 6-7, 2026. The weather is expected to intensify during the evening and night hours due to the active Southwest Monsoon in the state. Moderate thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and wind speeds up to 70 kmph are likely in several districts including Vidisha, Raisen, and Narmadapuram.

Light thunderstorms with lightning and winds up to 50 kmph are forecast for districts like Sheopur, Dewas, Sehore, and Indore. Rainfall was recorded in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and other divisions in the past 24 hours. Gusty winds were also observed in various areas, with maximum temperatures dropping notably in several divisions.

The active weather conditions are influenced by multiple cyclonic circulations over northwest and northeast Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Punjab, along with troughs extending across central India. The Southwest Monsoon has progressed, covering significant parts of the country, with more advancement expected. Thunderstorm conditions are likely to persist, followed by a gradual rise in maximum temperatures.

Residents are advised to stay updated with official updates from the Meteorological Centre, Bhopal, and take precautions during thunderstorms. Farmers are urged to postpone certain agricultural activities, ensure field drainage, and protect crops and livestock from adverse weather conditions.
