The India Meteorological Department’s Bhopal center forecasts widespread heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh over the next five days. This weather pattern, driven by the Southwest monsoon, a seasonal trough, and an active Western disturbance, has already brought significant rainfall to various areas. Districts like Dewas, Sehore, and Balaghat have experienced heavy rainfall, with warnings issued for severe weather in the upcoming days.
Warnings are particularly severe in districts like Raisen, Narmadapuram, and Harda, where extremely heavy rainfall is expected. Other districts, including Barwani and Dhar, are also on alert for intense rainfall and thunderstorms. Several regions face alerts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds, urging residents to take precautions.
In the early hours of July 1, moderate thunderstorms with lightning and rain are expected in various districts like Sagar, Ujjain, and Indore. Light thunderstorms and rain are forecasted for areas including Bhopal, Vidisha, and Jabalpur. The monsoon has progressed in parts of Madhya Pradesh, with more advancement expected soon.
An upper air cyclonic circulation and associated troughs are contributing to the unstable weather conditions. The public is advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid waterlogged areas, and be cautious while traveling. Farmers are urged to protect crops and refrain from pesticide spraying during rainy spells. Residents should stay prepared with emergency kits and stay updated with official weather alerts. This intense monsoon activity brings relief from heat but also poses risks of flooding and waterborne diseases.
