Imran Khan’s sisters and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi were once more refused a meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder at Adiala Jail, as reported by local media. Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, expressed disappointment, citing the denial of the court-ordered family meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She emphasized the need for support to ensure Imran Khan’s access to proper medical treatment.
The PTI recently criticized Imran Khan’s prolonged detention, labeling it as political victimization and a violation of legal norms. The party’s Central Information Secretary, Waqas Akram, accused the government of attempting to marginalize Imran Khan due to his popularity and independent stance. Akram raised concerns about the inhumane treatment of Imran Khan and his wife, alleging solitary confinement and restrictions on meeting family and legal representatives.
Imran Khan, aged 73, has been incarcerated since August 2023 on what PTI claims are politically motivated charges. Following his removal from office in 2022, he has faced various legal challenges, including accusations related to state gifts and a contentious marriage.
