The Raisina Science Diplomacy Initiative’s first edition in New Delhi brought together global leaders, policymakers, and scholars to discuss the role of science diplomacy in addressing strategic autonomy and governance challenges posed by disruptive technologies. The event, part of the Raisina Dialogue, gathered 80 experts from various fields to exchange ideas in a closed-door setting.
Chaired by Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Union government, the initiative featured discussions led by notable figures like Peter Gluckman, Marilyne Andersen, and Vijay Chauthaiwale. Emphasizing the significance of science and technology in national development, economic competitiveness, and global security, speakers highlighted the need for science diplomacy to adapt to evolving landscapes and challenges.
The roundtable discussions focused on balancing national priorities with collaborative scientific efforts and establishing governance models for disruptive technologies. Participants stressed the importance of global cooperation, transparent research systems, and ethical considerations in technological advancements.
