The attendance of girl students with at least 80% attendance in Gujarat’s secondary and higher secondary schools has surged by 73% in the past year. Data from the state’s Vidya Samiksha Kendra revealed a 125% increase in attendance in science stream classrooms.
Figures released by the state government showcased a rise in the number of girls with 80% attendance from 1,71,988 to 2,96,495, indicating an increase of 1,24,507 students. This surge was attributed to the Namo Lakshmi Scheme, aimed at supporting students in completing education up to Class 12 without financial hindrances.
The government highlighted that student attendance is monitored online through the Vidya Samiksha Kendra. Additionally, the number of girls achieving full attendance saw an increase of 62,059 over the past year.
The Namo Lakshmi Scheme has also led to a rise in enrollment among girls in secondary and higher secondary education. Enrollment figures rose from 13,29,762 to 13,91,308, marking an increase of approximately 4.63%.
In Class 12, the highest growth in enrollment was recorded at 13.59%, indicating a larger number of girls pursuing education at the higher secondary level. The government disclosed that Rs 1,664.06 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries under the Namo Lakshmi Scheme.
