India A secured the Tri-Series title by defeating Sri Lanka A by 66 runs in the final match at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s remarkable 94 off 29 balls set the stage for India A’s victory. Sri Lanka A, chasing a challenging target of 378, fell short and were bowled out for 311 in 47.1 overs despite some resilient efforts from their middle and lower order batsmen.
Sadeera Samarawickrama and skipper Sahan Arachchige tried to revive Sri Lanka A’s innings with contributions of 52 and 38 runs, respectively. However, consistent wicket-taking by the Indian bowlers hindered Sri Lanka’s momentum. Even a late fightback led by Vanuja Sahan’s 62 runs was not enough to overcome India A’s dominance.
India A’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Yash Thakur and Vipraj Nigam with three wickets each, played a crucial role in restricting Sri Lanka A’s chase. Anukul Roy also contributed with two wickets, while Ashok Sharma and captain Tilak Varma chipped in with one wicket each to help India A clinch the title.
Earlier, India A posted a massive total of 377/9 after being put in to bat first. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s explosive 94 and a solid partnership with Priyansh Arya laid the foundation for India A’s imposing total. Captain Tilak Varma’s composed 67 and contributions from other batsmen ensured India A’s aggressive approach throughout their innings.
