India has included all-rounder Harshit Rana in the squad for the third and last ODI against Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. Rana, who completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, has joined the ODI squad in Chennai. The Men’s Selection Committee made this decision, as stated by the BCCI.
The 24-year-old Rana faced a ligament strain in his right knee during the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai. He withdrew after bowling just one over and later underwent surgery. Mohammed Siraj replaced him during the T20 World Cup, which India won.
Rana missed IPL 2026 due to his recovery from knee surgery in February. Kolkata Knight Riders signed Navdeep Saini as his replacement. Rana has played 14 ODIs for India, claiming 16 wickets with an average of 27.38 and an economy rate of 6.21. His most recent appearance was during the T20I series against New Zealand in January.
Rana has also been named in India’s squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England, where they are set to play seven T20Is. India currently leads the three-ODI series against Afghanistan 2-0 after triumphs in Dharamsala and Lucknow.
The updated squad for the third ODI against Afghanistan includes Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Harshit Rana.
