Seam-bowling all-rounder Shivam Dube has been included in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against England, starting on July 14 in Birmingham, replacing the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy. Dube, already in England for the T20I series, will extend his stay for the ODIs as Reddy recuperates from a quadriceps injury.
Devajit Saikia, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced that Dube will step in for Reddy in the ODI series. Reddy sustained the injury during the third ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai, and his return timeline remains uncertain.
Having missed the T20I series against Ireland and England, as well as the upcoming matches against Zimbabwe due to ongoing rehabilitation, Reddy’s absence paved the way for Dube’s inclusion. Dube, a two-time T20 World Cup champion, has featured in four ODIs, scoring 43 runs and claiming one wicket. His most recent ODI appearance was against Sri Lanka in Colombo in August 2024.
India and England will clash in the ODI series at Edgbaston in Birmingham, followed by matches in Cardiff on July 16 and Lord’s on July 19. Post the series, Dube will head to Zimbabwe for the T20I series commencing on July 23, with games scheduled for July 25 and 26 at the Harare Sports Club.
