Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced India’s goal of reaching $1 trillion in exports this fiscal year, up from $863 billion in 2025-26. The target includes a 17% rise in merchandise exports to about $530 billion and an 11% increase in services exports to nearly $470 billion. Goyal expressed confidence in meeting these targets, citing progress made until June.
Goyal emphasized the need for a collective effort from exporters and industry leaders to achieve this ambitious milestone set by the government. He highlighted the growing global interest in India, urging businesses to capitalize on international opportunities. The minister stressed the importance of quality, skills, branding, and proactive customer engagement for success in overseas markets.
India’s focus on expanding its export markets includes efforts to enhance product quality, develop specialized skills, and establish strong international brands. Goyal mentioned the government’s initiatives to support exporters in strengthening their market presence abroad. He also pointed out the significance of new free trade agreements, such as the recently operational Oman FTA and the upcoming India-UK agreement, in boosting Indian exports.
