India’s IT Secretary, S. Krishnan, emphasized the country’s need to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to achieve a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. The ‘AI Impact Summit’ commenced in New Delhi with extensive preparations over the past year for a successful event.
Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India’s hosting of this year’s summit during the AI Action Summit in France. The summit has attracted over 250,000 registrations, with participation from heads of state and ministers from numerous countries, along with international delegations, CEOs, academics, and social sector experts.
Krishnan stressed the importance of riding the AI wave to realize the vision of a “developed India” by 2047. He highlighted the necessity of utilizing AI technology for the country’s benefit and fostering a governance mechanism to safeguard children and the nation from potential negative impacts while maximizing the opportunities AI offers for shaping their futures.
