India and Afghanistan recently conducted the fourth round of the Joint Committee Meeting in New Delhi. The meeting encompassed various aspects of bilateral relations, such as humanitarian assistance, development partnership, food security, healthcare, capacity building, education, sports, trade, visa, and connectivity. Both sides reiterated their commitment to supporting the welfare and development needs of the Afghan people.
The meeting, co-chaired by officials from both countries, emphasized the significance of regular consultations and maintaining close contact. The Ministry of External Affairs announced that the next round of the Joint Committee Meeting will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time. Additionally, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, recently met with Afghanistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation for the welfare of the Afghan populace.

The Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the Afghan minister, expressing anticipation for engaging discussions on mutual interests. India’s support for Afghanistan, particularly in the aftermath of Pakistani airstrikes in Afghan territory, has been underscored through aid and development projects.
India’s commitment to aiding Afghanistan was reiterated following the tragic Pakistani airstrikes that resulted in civilian casualties. The Ministry of External Affairs condemned the airstrikes and expressed condolences for the lives lost. India continues its humanitarian assistance cooperation with Afghanistan, providing essential support like medicines and development projects aimed at improving the lives of the Afghan people.
