Emphasizing the enduring relationship between India and Bulgaria, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed the need to modernize their partnership during a meeting with Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister in Sofia. Jaishankar highlighted the alignment in political perspectives between the two nations and the potential for enhanced cooperation.
During his visit, Jaishankar met with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister to convey personal regards from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also underscored recent agreements between India and the European Union, such as a free trade agreement and a security partnership, aiming to boost collaboration significantly.
In a press conference, Jaishankar addressed the current global uncertainties and stressed the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. He advocated for supply chain resilience and diversification to address economic risks and emphasized the significance of maritime trade security.
Jaishankar reiterated India’s support for the priorities of the Global South, particularly focusing on energy, food, and fertiliser security. He called for a united global stance against terrorism, highlighting the convergence of interests between India and Bulgaria on various shared concerns.
