India and France affirmed their strong strategic partnership during the 38th India–France Strategic Dialogue, co-chaired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Diplomatic Advisor to the President of France, Emmanuel Bonne. The dialogue encompassed various areas of cooperation such as security, defense, technology, space, and civil nuclear energy. Both nations expressed their dedication to enhancing collaboration through joint development and innovation, aligning with India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
The discussions also delved into the changing geopolitical landscape and significant regional and global issues of mutual interest, as highlighted by the Ministry of External Affairs. Stressing the importance of closer coordination, India and France emphasized the necessity of increased cooperation to tackle emerging global security challenges and foster peace and stability. The dialogue also included preparations for the upcoming visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations and broadening strategic engagement.
During the visit, Bonne engaged with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, showcasing the high-level political involvement and shared commitment to advancing the India–France strategic partnership. Geopolitical experts consider the India–France Strategic Dialogue as a crucial element supporting a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. They anticipate enhanced cooperation in defense, counter-terrorism, space, nuclear energy, and emerging technologies. Analysts believe that this deepening partnership will reinforce strategic autonomy, balance regional power dynamics, and contribute significantly to long-term regional and global stability.
