Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced collaboration between the Coast Guard of India and Indonesia to enhance maritime safety and security in the Indian Ocean. During a joint press meet with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, PM Modi highlighted agreements to boost defence exchange, disaster management, and industrial cooperation. He emphasized the significance of the growing trust between the two nations in strengthening defence, security, and maritime cooperation.
President Prabowo Subianto conferred India’s PM Modi with Indonesia’s highest honour, the ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’, recognizing exceptional service. PM Modi expressed gratitude for the honour, attributing it to the deep-rooted bonds between the two countries and the sentiments of their people. He acknowledged the recent revitalization of relations, stating that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2018 is reaching new heights.
PM Modi revealed plans for an IIM Bangalore campus in Indonesia and highlighted the enduring partnership in the space sector. Both countries have agreed on joint research, technology sharing, and capacity building in space. Addressing poverty eradication as a priority, PM Modi emphasized shared solutions in welfare programs and health cooperation. An agreement was signed to enhance technological cooperation in sectors like AI, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure, aiming to empower the youth of both nations.
