India and Israel engaged in discussions regarding collaboration in Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on innovation and emerging technologies. The meeting between India’s Ambassador to Israel, J P Singh, and Israel National AI Directorate Head Erez Askal in Tel Aviv centered on exploring avenues for cooperation in AI. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel in February, both nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in AI development and capacity building.
The MoU aims to support ethical AI, foster applications in civilian sectors, promote academic research, and establish public–private partnerships for sustainable growth. Additionally, the agreement includes a focus on advancing education through AI utilization, emphasizing human-centered learning powered by AI. This initiative covers areas such as innovative pedagogy, teacher development, regulatory frameworks, equitable AI access, research exchange, and leveraging AI and data literacy for inclusive education.
The visit of PM Modi to Israel led to the elevation of bilateral ties to a Special Strategic Partnership, with discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries. President Droupadi Murmu also extended greetings to Israeli counterpart Isaac Herzog on Israel’s 78th Independence Day, highlighting the growing Special Strategic Partnership between India and Israel. In response, Herzog expressed appreciation for the friendship between the two nations and affirmed readiness to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
