India and Poland are in talks about potentially producing certain defence platforms in India, as mentioned by Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski, Poland’s Secretary of State and Deputy Foreign Minister. Bartoszewski highlighted India’s interest in specific defence platforms produced by Poland and the potential for manufacturing them in India with Indian involvement. Additionally, discussions include the prospect of producing Indian platforms in Poland through joint ventures with Polish participation.
Bartoszewski emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in security and defence between the two countries, citing the importance of joint ventures and the ‘Make in India’ initiative. He expressed Poland’s willingness to incorporate both Polish and Indian content into these platforms, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
The Secretary of State underscored the significance of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement in bolstering trade relations. He mentioned the strategic partnership established two years ago during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Poland and highlighted the positive impact of the trade agreement in facilitating increased trade engagement between India and the EU.
Poland views India as a reliable partner in projects aimed at strengthening defence capabilities, especially in light of evolving geopolitical dynamics in Europe. Bartoszewski commended India for its consistent support to the defence industry and expressed Poland’s interest in collaborating with India on defence projects. He indicated plans to bring Polish weapons producers and firms to India later this year to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
