No agreement has been finalized between India and the United States for duty-free trade in dairy products or the agriculture sector. The BJP’s Punjab spokesperson, Pritpal Singh Baliewal, accused the Opposition of misleading farmers on this issue. Baliewal clarified that there is no concrete proposal in place yet, despite claims suggesting otherwise.
He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for allegedly spreading fear without any substantial evidence. Baliewal challenged the AAP to disclose any copy of the agreement if it exists. He highlighted conflicting views within the AAP, with some supporting the agreement while others opposing it as anti-farmer.
Baliewal accused the AAP of playing politics by creating confusion among farmers. He urged farmers not to be swayed by misleading information and assured that any future trade agreement would prioritize the interests of farmers and dairy producers. The aim would be to enhance investments and income in the agricultural sector.
