India-based founders are at the forefront of developing artificial intelligence (AI) for global clients, according to Jay Parikh, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of CoreAI. Parikh highlighted India’s unique advantages, including a high developer population, swift AI adoption by businesses, and robust digital infrastructure that enable the country to implement AI on a large scale.
Parikh noted the significant presence of Indian developers on GitHub, with a community exceeding 27 million members, including 2 million new joiners in 2026. He also emphasized that Indian developers rank second globally in contributing to open-source AI projects, with over 7.5 million contributions.
Highlighting the evolution of India’s tech ecosystem, the Executive Vice President of CoreAI mentioned that although India may not have led the initial wave of tech innovation, it has established a strong developer community that has propelled the country’s IT services industry to a global scale.
Rahul Regulapati, the founder and CEO of Galleri5, was cited as an example of a new generation of AI innovators with profound technical expertise. His studio released India’s first AI-generated television series, showcasing India’s prowess in AI innovation.
Indian companies are swiftly transitioning from experimenting with AI to implementing it in production, outpacing many global counterparts. As of November 2025, 47% of Indian enterprises have multiple AI use cases operational, with an additional 23% in the testing phase.
India is racing to establish itself as a pioneer in large-scale AI public infrastructure, integrating intelligent systems across various sectors like finance, healthcare, and education. The future of AI, as per the post, will be defined not by model creation but by effective deployment at scale with trust, speed, and tangible outcomes. India is well-positioned for this transition, shaping the future of AI deployment.
Deloitte’s 2026 enterprise AI survey ranked India as the top country out of 15 in terms of AI adoption at scale. A notable 40% of Indian respondents reported significant or full AI utilization, surpassing the global average of 28%.
