Varun Chakravarthy’s 3-14 and Shivam Dube’s all-round performance with 66 runs and 2-35 helped India secure a victory against the Netherlands in the 36th match of the T20 World Cup 2026. The match took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, extending India’s winning streak to 12 matches.
The Netherlands started well in their chase of 194 runs, with openers Michael Levitt and Max O’ Dowd putting up 35 runs in the initial five overs. However, Chakaravarthy’s delivery dismissed O’ Dowd, and the Netherlands struggled to maintain momentum throughout the match.
Hardik Pandya’s quick action further hindered the Netherlands’ progress as he took a crucial wicket by dismissing Levitt. India’s bowlers, including Aryan Dutt, created pressure on the Netherlands’ batting lineup, leading to their eventual defeat.
India, after opting to bat first, faced some early setbacks but recovered well with contributions from players like Tilak Varma and skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Dube’s explosive half-century and Rinku Singh’s late sixes propelled India to a commanding total of 193/6.
In response, the Netherlands put up a fight, with Colin Ackermann and Bas de Leede making notable contributions. However, India’s strong bowling attack, led by Chakravarthy and Dube, proved too much for the visitors as they fell short by 17 runs.
