The INDIA bloc, comprising various Opposition leaders, staged a walkout from the all-party meeting called by the Centre before the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The walkout was in protest against the presence of members from the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), a faction of the Trinamool Congress. The meeting, attended by key ministers and MPs, witnessed objections over the participation of the NCPI members.

Several prominent Opposition leaders, including Congress MP Jairam Ramesh and Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, were present at the meeting. The INDIA bloc’s walkout was triggered by the presence of the NCPI members, labeled as an unrecognized political party. Opposition leaders raised concerns about inviting the rebel Trinamool faction amidst pending disqualification proceedings against its MPs.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra highlighted that the entire Opposition, encompassing various parties, walked out in protest. She emphasized that the rebel MPs’ attendance was questioned as their merger approval was pending. The walkout occurred a day before the Monsoon Session, underscoring the Opposition’s objection to the recognition and involvement of the rebel Trinamool faction in official parliamentary discussions.
