India criticized Pakistan once again for its backing and promotion of cross-border terrorism as a state policy. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, during a media briefing, mentioned the ongoing investigation into the brutal Pahalgam terror attack carried out by Pakistan-supported terror groups. The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, resulted in the tragic deaths of 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator.
Pakistan was also rebuked for interfering in India’s internal matters, with Jaiswal asserting that Pakistan lacks the authority to comment on issues within India. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently charged Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Shah and five others for their involvement in the 1996 Srinagar violence. The charged separatist leaders are accused of criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder, rioting, and assault on public servants, under relevant laws.
The chargesheet filed by the NIA detailed the roles of the accused separatist leaders in inciting violence during a funeral procession in Srinagar. The investigation revealed that the accused, including now-deceased leaders, led an unlawful assembly that engaged in violent acts against police personnel. The Hurriyat leaders were found to have encouraged anti-India sentiments and advocated armed struggle through provocative speeches, as per the NIA’s findings.
