India started the five-match Mixed Disability T20 International series against England on a high note, securing a convincing seven-wicket win in the first game at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium in Greater Noida. England batted first, posting 173/5 in 20 overs, with captain Callum Flynn scoring 26 off 16 balls and Lian O’Brien contributing 55 off 41 deliveries.
Indian bowlers, led by Akash Singh and Vivek Kumar, contained England well, picking crucial wickets at key moments to restrict the opposition. In response, India confidently chased down the target, reaching 175 for 3 in 18.5 overs, with Yogendra Bhadoria playing a stellar innings of 94 off 59 balls, including six fours and five sixes.
Yogendra Bhadoria, who was named Player of the Match, expressed gratitude for the award, attributing the victory to the team’s collective effort. The win gives India a 1-0 lead in the series, aimed at promoting inclusivity by uniting players with various disabilities in a single international format.
The second T20I will also take place in Greater Noida as the series continues to unfold.
