India is becoming a key player in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) globally, with partnerships with 24 countries for collaboration on India Stack and DPI systems. These agreements, signed as of February 2026, focus on digital identity, payments, data exchange, and service delivery. Over the last 11 years, India has developed one of the world’s largest Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystems, enhancing access to healthcare, education, agriculture, and welfare, particularly in rural areas.
India has also established itself as a frontrunner in digital payments and governance innovation on a global scale. The expansion of India Stack to various nations is reinforcing India’s position in inclusive, citizen-centric, and technology-based development. Notably, UPI is operational in more than eight countries, including the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka, bolstering India’s presence in global fintech.
Platforms like Aadhaar, DigiLocker, CoWIN, GeM, DIKSHA, UMANG, and eSanjeevani are playing a crucial role in shaping digital governance models internationally. India introduced India Stack Global and the Global DPI Repository during its G20 Presidency in 2023, broadening the reach of Indian digital solutions worldwide. The Digital India Programme, marking 11 years on July 1, 2026, has been pivotal in India’s digital transformation journey, structured around nine pillars to expand digital access and drive innovation.
India leads the way in real-time digital payments globally, with UPI managing nearly half of the world’s transaction volume. The digital economy accounts for approximately 12–14% of India’s GDP and is projected to contribute around 20% in the next decade. Digital India has spurred innovation, startup growth, and technology adoption across various sectors, enhancing India’s capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. As India progresses towards Viksit Bharat 2047, Digital India remains instrumental in fostering inclusive growth, technological self-reliance, and citizen empowerment nationwide.
