India has successfully overseen the inaugural commercial export of dried whole egg powder from Balangir in Odisha to Austria. This achievement signifies a significant step in boosting the export of value-added agricultural and processed food products from India. The export was made possible by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The consignment, totaling 22.6 metric tonnes of dried whole egg powder, was sent by OVO Farm Pvt. Ltd., a registered exporter with APEDA based in Balangir. This export milestone underscores the increasing global recognition of Indian value-added poultry products, paving the way for the export of processed egg products to premium international markets. The virtual flag-off of the consignment was conducted by APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev.
Austria and various other European nations import egg powder for diverse food and industrial purposes. This successful export venture not only meets the rising demand for Indian processed food items in the European Union but also cements India’s reputation as a dependable source of high-quality agricultural and food products. The Ministry anticipates that this export will stimulate investments in poultry processing, fortify Odisha’s agro-processing sector, and create fresh avenues for exporting value-added products from the state.
To bolster the regional egg value chain and drive export-oriented growth, the exporter established a cutting-edge egg processing facility in Balangir in 2025. This facility produces dried egg products that adhere to both national and international food safety and quality standards, including EIC standards, European Union hygiene requirements, and other globally recognized regulations. Dried whole egg powder, a staple in the food processing industry, bakeries, confectionery production, and pharmaceutical applications, is favored for its extended shelf life, ease of transport, and versatility. The product, derived from the spray-drying of liquid eggs, undergoes rigorous quality checks to ensure alignment with international standards.
